System32 is one of the main system folders of the Windows operating system. Accidental deletion of a folder or any of its components can lead to various failures and even a system crash. In this situation, you need to take urgent action and recover the lost files.
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the nature of the errors that arise. If, while working with the system, messages periodically appear about the problem of finding a particular system file, try to restore them yourself. Memorize or write down the names of the missing components and try downloading them from the Internet, for example, from the Microsoft website. You can also find the files you need on the OS installation disc. Move them to the correct folder and restart your computer.
Step 2
If any of the files in the system32 folder are causing errors, although they are in their place, replace them with newer versions of the same name by downloading from the sources described above. It is advisable to pre-save the old versions in a separate folder in order to restore the previous values if something goes wrong.
Step 3
Perform a system restore. Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools and open the recovery service. Specify the required rollback point when there were no current problems in the system, and perform the operation. After a while, the computer will restart and accidentally deleted or lost files will be restored.
Step 4
A more complex operation is to restore a completely lost system32 folder. In this case, the system usually refuses to boot, and an error message appears on the screen. Restart your computer and go to BIOS settings to choose how to boot your computer from CD-ROM.
Step 5
Insert the Windows installation disc into the drive and reboot. In the menu that appears, select "System Restore" and roll back as described above. If restoring does not produce the desired results, reinstall the system. You can select the "Update" option, in this case all your data and settings will be saved in the same form.
