Necessary

  • - microphone;
  • - sound card.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect a microphone to the microphone input of your sound card. If there is a separate switch on the microphone body, make sure it is in the on position.

Step 2

Connect the microphone programmatically. Set the desired recording level and configure advanced audio recording properties. To do this, use the "Properties: Multimedia" dialog box ("Start" → "Settings" → "Control Panel" → "Multimedia") or run the "Volume Control" program. To call the program, click "Start", then "Programs" → "Accessories" → "Entertainment" and click on the "Volume Control" icon. Set the position of the knob to middle.

Step 3

Adjust the quality and level of the recording using the "Audio" tab in the "Properties: Multimedia" window. In the "Recording" group, click on the "Advanced" button and set the necessary values for the "Sample Rate" and "Hardware Acceleration" parameters in the "Additional Sound Properties" window. Increase them a little, however, if you have a weak computer or the drivers for sound devices were installed incorrectly, it is recommended to lower these parameters.

Step 4

To adjust the recording level in the "Recording" group, click on the "Microphone" button and in the "Level" window select the "Microphone" column. Use the gain control to set the desired recording level. In addition, you can select additional modes of operation of the microphone used by clicking on the "Advanced" button at the bottom of the column, if there is one.

Step 5

Make a test recording using Sound Recorder (Start → Programs → Accessories → Sound Recorder), then play it back. Adjust the parameters to obtain a satisfactory recording.
