Installing alternative browsers on Windows often removes the need to use the preinstalled Internet Explorer. So that it does not interfere with the work with the computer, it can be removed using the standard system tools.
Instructions
Step 1
To disable Internet Explorer functionality, you can use the Program Access Settings service. To do this, open the "Start" menu and select the "Default Programs" section. Wait until the utility for managing system programs starts, and then click on the "Configuring program access and defaults" section.
Step 2
In the window that appears, select any of the presented configurations. The item "Computer manufacturer" is responsible for returning the system parameters that were set by the manufacturer. The Microsoft Windows section will install the use of all standard system utilities. To disable Internet Explorer, the third point is “not Microsoft”. It will allow you to use third-party programs that were installed on your computer by the user. You can also select the "Custom" option.
Step 3
Once you click on the selected item, the default browser settings menu will be displayed. Among the options presented in the line "Web browser" select an alternative program for browsing the Internet, and then click "OK".
Step 4
After completing the operation, go to the "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Programs" - "Turn Windows features on or off." If necessary, enter the administrator password, and then click "OK".
Step 5
In the menu that appears, you will see a list of services used by default on your computer. Uncheck the box next to Internet Explorer and click "OK" again. Restart your computer to apply the changes. The browser will then be disabled.
