Instructions

Step 1

Open Windows Movie Maker. This program is guaranteed to be on your PC, regardless of whether you are using Windows XP, Vista or Seven. You can find it in the "Start" menu, in the "All Programs" item.

Step 2

Click on the "Import multimedia" button, then specify the files to the program that you want to use when creating a video as a material for it. You can select videos, audio recordings, photos. The files you specify are copied to Windows Movie Maker's Imported Media working folder.

Step 3

You will see at the bottom of the program in question an artboard, which can be displayed in the following modes: "Storyboard" and "Timeline". The mode switch button is located in the lower left corner of the window. The second mode gives an order of magnitude more information regarding editing materials: the duration of audio and video fragments, the text of titles superimposed on the frames. The first mode is convenient for transferring files to the editing area. In addition, it is suitable for applying transitions and effects.

Step 4

Transfer the necessary files to the editing area in the desired order. Selecting each of them, in the "Timeline" mode, adjust the duration of its display in the video.

Step 5

Then select "Transitions" from the drop-down list at the top of the window. You will see the transition options available for use between any two adjacent fragments. Drag and drop transitions to the editing area, adjusting them in your future video.

Step 6

Adjust the effects for each file in the same way.

Step 7

If necessary, insert a title and credits into the video. To do this, follow the link on the left side of the screen. This is the Titles and Credits link.

Step 8

Now all that remains is to save the finished video by selecting the desired menu item called "Publish to the selected location". The video can be saved both on a computer and on a DVD. Or you can send it by email.
