Disconnecting the processor from the motherboard is a tricky process, despite the fact that many are familiar with the configuration of a computer from the inside. Here you need to take into account some of the features of this piece of equipment.

Step 1
Make sure that the processor in your computer is not integrated into the motherboard, in which case it will not be possible to remove it at home. You can find out by looking at the specification of your computer model on the Internet or by reading the documentation.
Step 2
Disconnect the computer from the power source. Unscrew the bolts holding the left cover of the system unit and remove it. Carefully read the contents of the case, find on the motherboard (the largest of all the available diagrams on the right cover) a small square on which Intel, AMD or other information will be written, according to your hardware configuration. This is the processor. Usually it is located under the cooler and is removed with it.
Step 3
Unclip the clips holding the cooler and heatsink on the motherboard. Remove it carefully. Remove the processor, touching its feet as little as possible, as doing so could damage it irreparably. Be extremely careful not to let it fall or come into contact with liquids, dirt and so on.
Step 4
If necessary, replace the processor by following the sequence in reverse order. First, get rid of dust and dirt in the heatsink and cooler, then reinstall the new processor in place of the old one. Secure its position, install the cooling system and secure with special clamps.
Step 5
If you are choosing a replacement processor, be sure to make sure it is compatible with your motherboard model. To do this, look on the Internet for an overview of the motherboard and processor, having found out the chipset and other necessary information in advance. Before buying, be sure to consult with knowledgeable people, if any, in your environment or resort to the help of sales consultants.
