The tilde (~) is a special character in the Latin keyboard layout. In addition to the fact that it is often used when entering text, it is also, among other things, a control button and calling some functions in various games.
Instructions
Step 1
Switch the keyboard layout to Latin and press the Shift + E key combination, which in this case should be responsible for entering the tilde. Please note that the input of this character in Cyrillic is not supported. If you need to call the console or use another function using this button, in some cases it may be necessary to switch the layout.
Step 2
If you do not have a tilde character entered, try opening the character table and see if it is supported by the given font. To do this, go to the menu of installed programs via "Start" and select this utility in the standard utilities.
Step 3
Select a font from the top drop-down menu and see the corresponding characters that it supports. If you often need to enter additional characters, drag the table icon to the desktop or taskbar, after which it will be available to you much faster.
Step 4
If your keyboard does not have a tilde key or does not work, use the character table to copy it to the clipboard. After that, open the window in which this character needs to be entered, and paste it using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V.
Step 5
Use changing control keys if your computer does not have the “~” button or does not work. This is due to the fact that in some games it is she who is responsible for activating a particular mode, enabling various functions, and so on. Also, special programs designed to change the scan code of multimedia or ordinary buttons will help you to change the assignment of any key. Note that there are also programs specifically designed to change the assignment of the Caps Lock key. Before using them, read the instructions and create a restore point.
