In order to ensure the security of the wireless network, it is recommended to configure its parameters in a certain way. Usually, the function of hiding the public name of the access point is used.
Necessary
Wi-Fi router
Instructions
Step 1
You can use a router or Wi-Fi adapter to set up a wireless LAN. Stop your choice on the first option, because a network built via a Wi-Fi adapter implies the presence of a computer that is always on. Purchase a Wi-Fi router with a suitable connector to connect to your ISP (DSL or LAN).
Step 2
Connect the purchased equipment to the mains. Connect it to the ISP cable using the WAN (DSL) port for this purpose. Now connect your stationary computer or laptop to the LAN port of the router. Launch an internet browser on the selected computer.
Step 3
Enter the IP address of the router in the address bar of the running program, which can be found in the instructions for the network equipment. After entering the web interface of the router settings, go to the WAN menu. Create and configure an internet connection for the network device. Save the network settings.
Step 4
Now open the wireless hotspot (Wi-Fi) setup menu. Select a security type, enter a network name and set a password. Activate the item "Hide the name (SSID) of the network". Save the settings of the wireless access point. Reboot your router to apply them. Wait for the device to access the Internet.
Step 5
Now turn on your laptop. Open the Network and Sharing Center. Go to "Wireless Network Management". Click the Add button. Specify the first item "Create a network profile manually".
Step 6
In the menu that opens, enter the same values that you specified when configuring the access point. Be sure to check that the following information is correct: name, security type, encryption type, and security key.
Step 7
Now check the boxes next to "Start this connection automatically" and "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting." Your laptop will now automatically search for and connect to a hidden hotspot.
