AutoCAD (AutoCAD) is a computer-aided design system. A drawing in AutoCAD is a drawing in vector format with precise lines and shapes at any scale. To create drawings using any version of AutoCAD, you must use both drawing tools and special editing commands and the "Property inspector" window.
Instructions
Step 1
Open AutoCAD and choose New from the File menu to create a new project file.
Step 2
Type Units at the command line to set the Length, Angle, and Insertion Scale values.
Step 3
Enter the Dsettings command to open the Drawing Settings window and enable drawing tools such as plots, object snaps, and grids. Make the desired changes to the drawing settings and click OK to close the Drawing Settings window.
Step 4
Type a drawing command. For example, enter Line to draw a line, Circle to add a circle, or Rectangle to add a rectangle. Click in the drawing window to create a starting point for a drawing command. Click again to finish the object or type “@ X, Y” or “@ D <” (for oblique lines) at the command line, where “@” is the size relative to the first point of the object, “X” is the horizontal distance from the first dots, “Y” is the vertical distance, “D” is the distance from the object, “<” defines the inclined line, and “A” is the angle of inclination of the line.
Step 5
Select objects and adjust their shapes manually or enter special commands on the line, such as Trim, Extend, Move, Rotate and Mirror).
Step 6
Type Properties on the command line to open the Properties Inspector window. Use the Properties Inspector to define the layer, color, weight, and line style of objects. In addition, the Property inspector provides information about the drawing and object attributes such as radius, location, and annotation.
