It is convenient to work with graphs, tables, databases in the Excel application of the Microsoft Office package. When preparing such documents, standard templates are not always suitable. In some cases, special text formatting may be required: a special style, color, or font size. And sometimes it is necessary to change the direction of the text.

Instructions

Step 1

Excel's built-in tools give the user relative freedom of action. To change the direction of the text, you can either use the corresponding buttons in the menu, or set special settings for the cells.

Step 2

To rotate the text using the buttons, fill in the desired cell, place the mouse cursor in it and make sure that you are on the "Home" tab. In the "Alignment" section, click on the "Orientation" button with a diagonal arrow and Latin letters ab.

Step 3

Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list: Clockwise Text, Counterclockwise Text, Rotate Text Up, Vertical Text, and so on. The Orientation button can only rotate the text 45 and 90 degrees.

Step 4

If you need a non-standard angle of inclination of the entered text, it is better to open the "Format cells" window. To do this, right-click in the required cell and select "Format Cells" from the drop-down menu.

Step 5

In the window that opens, go to the "Alignment" tab. Pay attention to the "Orientation" field on its right side. Here you can change the direction of the text in one of the ways convenient for you: using the mouse or keyboard.

Step 6

The Orientation field resembles a half of a dial with the word "Lettering" as the arrow. To rotate the text by +/- 15, +/- 30, +/- 45, +/- 60, +/- 75 and +/- 90 degrees, simply left-click on one of the divisions on the "dial".

Step 7

To set a different angle of inclination of the text, click on the word "Inscription" with the left mouse button and, while holding it, move the improvised "arrow" around the circle until you achieve the desired result. You can also enter the angle of inclination in the field below, using either the keyboard or the arrow buttons to the right of the inscription "degrees".

Step 8

On the same Alignment tab, note the Text Direction field. With it, you can place text from left to right, right to left and by context. When you've finished formatting the text, click OK.
