A domain is the name assigned to a computer by the network (DNS). The point of creating a domain network is to create a DNS service on your main PC and from it distribute domain names to other computers and provide access to the network. The technical implementation requires the user to have good technical skills and depends entirely on the specifics of the operating system. Setting up DNS in a peer-to-peer network is the basis for performing more complex domain network configurations in the future.
Necessary
- - computers;
- - network hardware;
- - Winroute software.
Instructions
Step 1
Without specifying the gateway, drive in the following parameters of the network card:
164.149.0.1 - network address of the computer with Winroute installed on it;
234.234.234.0 - mask;
164.149.0.1 - specify the network IP address of the same card as the domain name of the server.
Step 2
Select the network settings provided by your provider - real IP, mask, gateway, DNS provider, but without entering data into an external network card, but in a slightly different way. Let's say the settings given to you by the provider will look like this:
ip 76.482.0.99 - real network address;
mask 234.234.234.240 - mask;
gate 76.482.0.97 - gateway;
dns 76.482.0.97 - provider's domain address.
The final result of entering data should look like this:
ip 76.482.0.99;
mask 234.234.234.240;
gate 76.482.0.97;
dns 164.149.0.1 - specify the network address of the internal card as the main domain address of the server;
76.482.0.97 - specify the provider's DNS server as the second alternative domain address of the server.
Step 3
Click the Advanced button. In the DNS tab, uncheck the box Register this connectionТs addresses in DNS, in the М WINS tab, change Enable LMHOSTS lookup to Disable NetBIOS over TCP / IP.
Step 4
Open the control panel, select the "Network Connections" section. Open the Advanced Options menu, on the Adapters and Bindings tab, move the Local Area Connection pointer to the topmost position.
Step 5
Look at the settings of the network card of the client computer, they should look something like this:
ip 164.149.0.2
mask 234.234.234.0
gate 164.149.0.1 - specify the network address of the Winroute computer as the gateway
dns 164.149.0.1 - specify the IP address of the Winroute computer as the main domain address of the server.
Step 6
In Winroute, select the DNS Forwarder item in the configuration menu, check the Enable checkbox, specify the DNS address of the provider's server. The configuration of peer-to-peer domain names is now complete.
