Operating systems used in conjunction with personal computers have built-in functions for cleaning hard drives. To completely delete information from drives, as a rule, use the formatting function.

Step 1
If you need to clean up a hard disk partition, follow this procedure through the Windows operating system. Open the My Computer menu.
Step 2
Right-click on the graphic image of the section from which you want to delete information. In the new menu, select "Format". Wait for the dialog menu to launch.
Step 3
Enter a volume label if necessary. Click the Restore Default Settings button. To completely clear a section, deactivate the "Clear Table of Contents" function. After preparing the parameters, click the "Start" button. Click the "Yes" button to confirm the start of the partition cleaning procedure.
Step 4
Format other local drives in the same way. The obvious disadvantage of this method is that it cannot be used to delete all information from the partition on which the operating system is installed. Use Partition Manager to fully format your hard drive.
Step 5
Burn the DOS version of this application to a DVD drive. To do this, use the image created from the boot disk. Insert the resulting DVD into your drive and restart your computer.
Step 6
Run the program burned to disk. After a menu appears containing information about the current state of the hard disk, select its system partition. Open the Operations tab and click the Formatting button.
Step 7
Set the parameters for cleaning the partition. You can also change the filesystem if necessary. After preparing the formatting mode, open the "Changes" tab. Go to the "Apply" item and confirm the launch of the application.
Step 8
Remember that after cleaning the system local disk, you will not be able to fully use the computer until you install a new copy of the OS. Take care of creating an installation disk with system files in advance.
