Instructions

Step 1

It is recommended that you create a backup before you start editing registry keys. You can start the "Registry Editor" using the "Run" applet in the "Start" menu, which can also be launched by pressing the Win + R keyboard shortcut. In the window that opens, enter the Regedit command and click the "OK" button.

Step 2

If for some reason you were unable to start this application, open the desktop, right-click on the icon "My Computer" and select "Registry Editor". Regedit can be launched using Windows Explorer - navigate to the following path C: / Windows / and double-click the regedit.exe icon.

Step 3

In the main window of the program, you will see a division into 2 parts: the keys are on the left, and their values are on the right. To open a branch, click on the "+" image next to it.

Step 4

Navigate to the following path HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies / ActiveDesktop, then create a new parameter named NoChangingWallpaper. To do this, in the right part of the program, right-click on a free area, select the "New" section and select "DWORD Parameter". Enter the above name, press Enter - the parameter is created. Now double click on it and set the value to one (1), then click "OK".

Step 5

Go back to your desktop and go to the background image settings. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties. In the window that opens, go to the "Desktop" tab and try changing the image - the list with pictures will not be available.

Step 6

To return to the original desktop settings, you must remove the NoChangingWallpaper parameter or change its value from "1" to "0". To close the program, click the top menu "File" and select "Exit".
