It's hard to imagine a modern computer without a network card. Access to local networks, which are shrouded in many homes, to the Internet, which unites people from different countries, is most often carried out through a network card.

Step 1
Before buying a network card, make sure that your motherboard does not have one built-in. You may already have a network card, but it is disabled. In this case, you will need to activate it in the BIOS. To do this, when the computer boots up, enter the BIOS and look for the corresponding parameter in the Integrated Peripherals menu.

If the motherboard doesn't have a network card, buy one at any computer store. Disconnect the computer system unit. Remove the side cover to access the motherboard.

To install a network card, select an empty slot on the system board. Remove the cover next to it from the back of the system unit. Place the NIC over the slot and push it firmly into place. Fix it with the fixing screw.
Step 4
Connect the cable to the socket of the network card. Turn on your computer. If the card has been installed correctly, you will see the LEDs blinking on it, signaling the exchange of information with the network.
Step 5
Now you can close the system unit by installing the side cover. Then, if necessary, configure the connection with the local network. Also create and configure Internet connections.
Step 6
For a network card to work, you usually do not need to install additional drivers. If you are having trouble making connections, or if your network card is not visible in Windows, you may need to enable it on your system. To do this, go to the "Device Manager", find "Network adapters", right-click on the installed model and select the "Enable" command in the drop-down menu.
