In the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop, brushes are one of the many tools available to the user. It is used, perhaps, more often than others when it comes to drawing, rather than processing finished images. It is not difficult to select the desired brush, sometimes it can be done with one keystroke. But in the graphics editor there is also the possibility of a more scrupulous selection and adjustment of this tool.

Instructions

Step 1

Activate the Brush tool. The easiest way to do this is to press the B key (this is a Latin letter). However, the control of painting tools in Photoshop is designed in such a way that this key may currently correspond to another tool - Pencil, Color Swap, or Mixer Brush. The key activates the one that is selected from the list in the toolbar. To change the selection, click the corresponding icon in the panel with the left mouse button and hold it for a couple of seconds. In the list that opens, select "Brush".

Step 2

You can choose the shape and size of the brush in the "Options" panel - it is placed in a narrow strip along the bottom or top edge of the application window. If it is not visible in your editor, open the "Window" section in the menu and select the "Options" item.

Step 3

The second icon from the left in the list of parameters opens a drop-down list with a table of all available brushes and two sliders. Select the desired brush shape in the table, and use the sliders to set the size and hardness of the drawing.

Step 4

Use the brush palette to access more advanced selection and customization options for this tool. It is launched by clicking on the third from the left icon in the "Options" panel or by using the "hotkey" F5. There is an item "Brush" and in the "Window" section of the graphical editor menu.

Step 5

The set of brushes used can be changed. An icon is placed in the right corner of the header of the brushes palette, clicking on which opens an additional menu - select one of the sets in it. In response, Photoshop will display a message asking you to replace the existing set or add new brushes to the end of the list - select the option you want.

Step 6

You can also install your own set, it is not difficult to find custom brushes on the Internet. The file with a set of brushes must have the abr extension, and you can load its contents into Photoshop using the dialog that opens from the menu described in the previous step.
