Launch Adobe Photoshop editor. Create a new canvas or open an existing image. Select the Brush tool. To do this, click on the button with the brush image on the toolbar or press the B key on the keyboard.
Step 2
When doing this, keep in mind the following: many buttons have their own submenu, allowing you to select a specific type of instrument. The options available for the brush are: regular "Brush", "Pencil", "Color swap" and "Mix-brush". To switch between them with your mouse, click the arrow button in the lower-right corner of the tool, and on your keyboard, use the keyboard shortcut Shift + B.
Step 3
Make sure a palette is displayed in the editor window. If you do not see it, mark the "Samples" item in the "Window" menu with a marker. Move the cursor over the palette, it will change its appearance. Left-click on the selected shade - the color for the brush will be determined, and you can start painting.
Step 4
If you are not satisfied with the shade, and the color you want is missing from the swatches palette, move the cursor to the bottom edge of the toolbar. Two squares are displayed there: the top one corresponds to the brush color, the bottom one - to the background color. Left-click on the top square to open the expanded color picker.
Step 5
Use the left mouse button to select the shade you need or enter numerical values into the corresponding RGB, HSB, Lab or CMYK palette windows, and then click OK. The selected shade will become the base color of the brush.
Step 6
To expand the palette of colors or add new shades, use the arrow button in the upper right corner of the swatches panel. Click on it with the left mouse button, a drop-down menu will expand, where you can set the parameters you need or specify the path to the custom palette using the appropriate commands.
