Instructions
Step 1
You can install the Chinese language on your computer using the Windows disk or if you have the Internet. To do this, go to the "Control Panel" and select "Regional and Language Options".
Step 2
Select the "Languages" tab and select two menu items - "Install support for languages with right-to-left writing and complex writing" and "Install support for languages with hieroglyphics."
Step 3
After that, the system will ask you to insert the Windows disk and start the installation process. Next, in the same "Languages" tab, select the "Details" button, then "Add …".
Step 4
Select Chinese (PRC) from the Input Language drop-down list, and select Chinese (Simplified) in Keyboard Layout or IME. Click OK.
Step 5
Next, download the Chinese fonts in the.ttf format from the Internet. Then move them to the "C: WindowsFonts" folder, after which the font installer will start. Then restart your computer. The language installation is complete.
Step 6
On Linux, Chinese language support is native to many distributions, but sometimes additional fonts need to be installed. To do this, install the appropriate font packages in the Synaptic package manager (for Ubuntu) or in the "Install applications" section. For the traditional Chinese character set in the Debian family, you will need to install "ttf-arphic-bkai00mp". To install a set of simplified hieroglyphs, search for "ttf-arphic-gbsn00lp". Also, the installation can be done directly from the Terminal. To do this, enter the command "apt-get install ttf-arphic-gbsn00lp && ttf-arphic-bkai00mp". Restart the X server to apply the changes.
