If you don't know how to draw, but want to see how any photograph would look in a painterly version, Adobe Photoshop will help you. With the help of numerous filters and Photoshop plugins, you can easily turn any photo into an analogue of a picture drawn using painting or graphics techniques. In Photoshop CS5, use the Mixer Brush for this, which greatly simplifies the process of turning a photo into a painting, compared to previous versions of the program.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the photo you want to change and duplicate the background layer (Duplicate Layer). Select the Brush Tool from the Toolbox and select the Mixer Brush from the Brush menu. In the Brush Settings select the Round Fan with a tick beard.

Step 2

Click the brush settings icon again and set the options you want, and also do not forget to turn on the AirBrush mode (AirBrush). Set the brush size to at least 170 pixels. Start working with a brush sequentially all the objects in the photo, painting them in a circular motion. For example, if you chose a landscape photo, start brushing the photo with a brush from trees and trunks.

Step 3

You can also change the type of brush - for example, choose round or pointed brushes to achieve the most interesting and unusual effects. Use a circular motion to carefully process all the details of the photo, reducing the size of the brush if necessary if you have to process small objects.

Step 4

Using the Sharpen Tool and a 400 px brush, add clarity and sharpness to the areas of the photo that are too out of focus. If you overdid it, choose the Fade Sharpen Tool option from the Edit menu.

Step 5

Apply artistic filters to the image - select Artistic> Dry Brush from the Filter menu with a brush size of 0, a detail of 10 and a texture of 3. Then apply a Surface Blur filter with a radius of 3 and a threshold of 4 to the photo. The picture is ready.
