At the initial stages of mastering Adobe Photoshop, any insignificant detail can enter into a stupor, for example, the need to change layers. This little guide will help you get over your little embarrassment.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the program (the author uses russified Adobe Photoshop CS5) and create some kind of inscription in a new document - this will be one of the layers. To do this, select "Text" on the toolbar (the icon with the letter "T"), move the cursor over the work area, left-click and type something on the keyboard.
Step 2
In the lower right corner of the program, find the Layers panel. It contains three tabs: "Layers", "Channels" and "Paths". Make sure you have the Layers tab enabled. At the bottom there is a list of layers: for now, this is what you wrote and the background. Double-click the background with LMB. In the window that appears, give the future layer some name and color (for example, "Background"). The layer color is used for the convenience of working with layers and does not affect the color of the label. Click "Ok". At the same time, you can see how the lock has disappeared in the list near the "Background" layer. There are now two layers in the project that can be manipulated.
Step 3
Now select the layer with the caption. This can be done in three ways (to use the first two, first select "Move" in the toolbar): 1. Hold Ctrl and left-click on the label.
2. Click on the label with the right mouse button and select the required layer in the menu that appears. This method is convenient when a large number of layers are grouped in one place at the same time.
3. In the list of layers, select the layer with the label. It bears exactly the same name as the inscription.
Step 4
Right-click on the layer with the caption in the list, select "Layer Options" (the topmost menu item) and specify there, say, a green color. For convenience, you can also change the name.
Step 5
In the list of layers, select one of them and using the "drag-n-drop" (drag-and-drop) method, move one of the layers so that they swap places: red at the bottom, green at the top. Look at the work area - the label should disappear. This means that the layer with it is located behind the layer with the background.
