To divide video files into separate fragments, it is recommended to use special utilities. With the help of some programs, you can not only split the video into parts, but also cut or correct certain frames.

- - VirtualDub;
- - Adobe Premier.
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the free VirtualDub utility. Run this program and open the File menu. Select Import Video and select the desired avi movie.
Step 2
Wait a while while the video file is loaded into the program. Find the scroll bar, click on the beginning of the movie and press button 1.
Step 3
Move the right end of the strip to roughly the center of the film. It is best to choose a moment at which it would be logical to divide the film. After selecting the desired location in the file, press 2. Be sure to remember the timecode of the ending segment.
Step 4
Open the Video menu and check the box next to Direct Stream Copy. Activate a similar function in the Audio menu. Open the File menu again and select the Save Segmented AVI item.
Step 5
Set the parameters of the saved video clip and wait until the process of separating the selected part of the file is completed.
Step 6
Save the second part of the movie in the same way. In this case, the end of the first element must be the beginning of the second. Highlight the desired timecode and press 1. Move the slider to the end of the track and press 2. Save the selected area of the movie.
Step 7
If this method seems too complicated for you, use the Adobe Premier program. Install this application and launch it. Left-click on the first frame of the movie. Hold down the Shift button and select the last frame of the first fragment with the left button.
Step 8
Press the key combination Ctrl and C. Launch a second copy of Adobe Premier and paste the resulting segment there. Save the first part of the movie. Now go back to the first window of the program and delete the selected item. Save the second part of the file.
