Monkey's Audio is a popular freeware program used to compress lossless audio files in the APE format. Of course, not all audio players will understand it, but in this case you will be able to burn these files to disk.
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install Monkey's Audio to record your APE files. Go to the official website of the application, click on the link to download the file, then follow the instructions on the screen to install the software on your computer.
Step 2
Install iTunes if you do not have this application, as you will need it for further work with APE files. Open the installer and follow the onscreen instructions until iTunes is fully installed.
Step 3
Right-click on the "Start" button and select "Explorer". In the left pane of the Browse window, navigate to the folder containing the files you want to compress into the desired format and burn to a CD.
Step 4
Open Monkey's Audio. Select all files to be recorded in APE format and drag and drop them into the application window. Click the arrow next to "Compress" in the upper left corner of the program and select the file archiving mode, and then click the "Archive" button and wait until the application finishes creating the APE files.
Step 5
Open iTunes. Select the "Edit" menu, then "Preferences". Click on the "Advanced" tab, then "Import". Set the Import Using field to MP3 Encoder. Click the "OK" button to close the settings window.
Step 6
Click the File menu and then select Add Folder to Library. Browse to the folder where you saved the APE files. Select it all and click "OK".
Step 7
View the list of tracks in the iTunes panel for converting to CD-burnable format. Shift-click on the top track and then click on the bottom track to select them all. Right click on the selected area and select "Convert to MP3". Wait for the conversion process to complete.
Step 8
Insert a blank CD into your CD burner. Select the Burn to CD function from the menu that appears. Click the Burn button in the iTunes window to finish burning the APE music files you have created.
