Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item to initiate the procedure for deleting the item "Recent Documents" from the "Start" menu.
Step 2
Select the item "Appearance and personalization" and expand the link "Taskbar and Start menu".
Step 3
Go to the "Main Menu" tab of the application window that opens and uncheck the "Store and display a list of recently opened files" field in the "Privacy" section.

Uncheck the "Store and display a list of recently opened files" box to add the "Recent Documents" item to the main Start menu.
Step 5
Return to the main Start menu and go to Run to use an alternative method to delete the selected menu item.

Enter regedit in the Open field and click OK to execute the command to launch the Registry Editor tool.

Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer registry key. Replace the NoRecentDocsMenu = hex: parameter value with 01, 00, 00, 00.

Restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
