Instructions

Step 1

In older versions of the MS Office Word text editor, type the base of the number in the form of a digit, then select the "Format" and "Font" items in the main menu. The dialog box opens by default to the Font tab. In the "Effects" group, check the box next to the "Superscript" option, click OK to confirm. Type the exponent in the form of a number, again open the "Font" dialog box, uncheck the box next to the "Superscript" option and click OK.

Step 2

If the document requires you to enter not a degree, but an index of a number, enter the number in numerical form. Then select "Format" and "Font" from the main menu. In the dialog box, stay on the Font tab. In the "Effects" group, check the "Subscript" option and confirm the selection by pressing OK. Enter the desired number, then return to the dialog box and uncheck. Confirm the decision by clicking OK.

Step 3

In order to make it easier to use this option, you can create the desired button on the control panel. To do this, in the main menu, select the "Service" item, and in it - the "Settings" command. In the dialog box that appears, select the Commands tab. In the "Categories" list, select "Format". In the Commands window, find "Superscript". Use the mouse to drag this command to the format bar and place the icon in the font properties group.

Step 4

In MS Office Word 2007 in the properties panel in the "Font" group in order to enter the exponent, you must click the button with the "x2" image. First enter the base of the number numerically, then select the "Superscript" option on the property bar, enter the exponent and click on the "x2" button again to exit this mode.

Step 5

To enter the index of a number, write the number as a digit. In the properties panel in the "Font" group, click on the button with the "x2" index and enter the corresponding number. After entering, press the "x2" button again to exit this mode.
