The typographic symbol in the form of a superscript circle, which is customary to denote the dimensions of angles and temperatures measured in degrees, is absent on the computer keyboard. However, it is present in the coding tables that the operating system uses to display characters on the computer screen. It is among the first 128 characters of this table, which makes it possible to use it even in documents of the most simple text formats - for example, txt.

Step 1
Use code 0176 to insert a degree icon into text documents. To do this, press the alt="Image" key and, without releasing it, type this code on the numeric (additional) keyboard. While you are typing the code, nothing will change on the screen, and when you finish and release the alt key, the ° icon will appear at the place indicated by the input cursor.
Step 2
Start the Windows Symbol Map component as an alternative to the method described above for inserting this symbol. This can be done, for example, by pressing the key combination win + r, entering the charmap command and clicking on the Enter key. In the symbol table in the window that opens, find the degree icon, double-click it and click the "Copy" button. Then switch to the editable document window and paste the copied symbol (ctrl + v).
Step 3
Use the key combination opt + shift + 8 if the operating system you are using belongs to the Mac OS family. It is this combination of hot keys that is assigned in it to insert a degree icon into documents.
Step 4
Insert the hexadecimal code 00B0 (B is an English letter) if you work with documents in the Microsoft Office Word word processor. This code corresponds to the degree designation in the Unicode table, and Word is able to work with such character designations. With the insertion point in the text where the degree sign should be, type this code, and then press alt="Image" + x and the word processor will remove these four signs from the text, replacing them with one ° sign.

Use html symbolic primitives if you want to place the degree sign in a hypertext document. To display this symbol in the text of a web page, you can put a sequence of symbols ° or ° in it - both of them form the same symbol °.
