If an account has been created on a computer, one day it may be necessary to change it: the owner has changed, or the user has decided that he needs a different account name.
Instructions
Step 1
A member with administrator rights can change the account. Launch the Start menu and open Control Panel. Open the section "Accounts" and mark the entry that you will change. In the new window, follow the link "Change name". Enter the new information and click "Change name".
Step 2
The same goal can be achieved in a different way. Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon and select the "Manage" option. Open the Local Users section and the Users folder. In the right part of the window, mark the entry that you will modify and call the drop-down menu by right-clicking on it. Select the "Rename" option and enter the new data.
Step 3
You can change the username and the name of the organization that owns the computer in the registry. Use the Run command from the Start menu to invoke the Open line and type regedit. On the left side of the Registry Editor window, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion.
Step 4
To change the name of the organization, on the right side of the window, double-click the RegisteredOrganization parameter. In the "Value" line, enter a new name. Select the RegisteredOwner parameter if you want to change the name of the registered user. Also, double-click, call the "Value" line and change the data.
Step 5
Each computer on a network has a unique name by which the computer can be identified in a workgroup or in a domain. To change this name, you also need administrator rights.
Step 6
Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon. Select the "Properties" command and go to the "Computer name" tab. Click "Change" and in the "Computer Name" window enter the new value. In the "Member" section, you can specify which workgroup or domain the computer belongs to.
Step 7
Confirm the decision by clicking OK. The system will prompt you to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. Click OK to confirm.
