Any restart of Windows will automatically launch the Autochk.exe test program. Troubleshooting by this application triggers the chkdsk / f command to check the integrity of the file system. Unfortunately, this process can take several hours or days, which leads to the need to cancel the check.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the built-in utility to disable automatic checking Chkntfs. To do this, follow these steps.
Step 2
Click the "Start" button to enter the main menu of the computer system and go to the "Run" section.
Step 3
Enter chkntfs in the command line box. When doing so, use the following value parameters.
Step 4
Specify chkntfs a volume to determine the letter of the selected drive.
Step 5
Specify chkntfs / D to restore the computer system to default settings, check all disks at boot, and run chkdsk checker when errors are encountered.
Step 6
Specify chkntfs / X to uncheck the selected drive at boot. It should be remembered that this procedure must be repeated for each disk, the check of which must be excluded.
Step 7
Specify chkntfs / C to prompt for a disk check on next boot and use chkdsk if errors are encountered.
Step 8
Run the chkntfs / D command to run the chkdsk / f check command for a disk that was previously excluded from the chkntfs disk check list.
Step 9
Do not attempt to disable the chkdsk / f command from running automatically using the chkntfs application. This requires removing the link string parameter to the automatically generated startup command from the value of the BootExecute parameter.
Step 10
Note that the chkntfs command can only be run on the physical local disks of the node (which are also considered the Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) disks in the shared disk array. Otherwise, the system will report an error).
Step 11
Use the chkntfs command to disable automatic disk checking on a per-host basis.
