The taskbar in the Windows graphical interface can be positioned at any of the four edges of the screen and you can randomly move it from its usual place. If the panel is not visible on the desktop at all, it is possible that a setting has been activated that hides it, its width is reduced to the limit, or the operating system has crashed. These three reasons can be easily eliminated.
Instructions
Step 1
If the taskbar is not visible at any of the edges of the screen, locate its location by opening the main menu of the operating system. To do this, it is not at all necessary to click on the "Start" button, which is also invisible if the taskbar is not displayed. Replace this click with either of the two Win buttons on your keyboard.
Step 2
Along with the opening of the main menu, the taskbar should appear on the screen. If this happens, it means that the setting is activated in the display settings of the panel, which hides it outside the screen border. The panel in this mode should appear if the mouse pointer is brought to the edge of the screen behind which the OS hides it. If this mode of operation does not suit you, right-click the panel and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the window "Properties of the taskbar and the Start menu" uncheck the checkbox to the left of the inscription "Automatically hide the taskbar" and click OK.
Step 3
If, when you press the Win key, the Start button menu expands and the panel does not appear on the screen, then it does not have this option - the width of the panel strip is reduced to a size at which only a one-pixel line remains of it. To remedy the situation, move the mouse pointer over this line - whether the cursor is exactly above the border of the taskbar, you will know by changing its shape. Press the left mouse button and drag the edge of the taskbar towards the center of the screen at a sufficient distance to display it.
Step 4
If the explorer.exe process is frozen or crashed, pressing the Win key has no effect at all. To correct this defect, restart the system application using the Windows Task Manager. Call it with a combination of "hot keys" Ctrl + Shift + Esc and on the "Processes" tab, find the line starting with explorer.exe - it will be there if the application hangs and does not respond to requests. Select the found line and click the "End Process" button. This process will not be listed if the application crashed as a result of a crash - spontaneously terminated.
Step 5
Go to the Applications tab and click the New Task button. In the "Open" field of the dialog box that appears, enter explorer and click on the OK button.
