When the ink in a color cartridge runs out, but you urgently need to print the material, you agree to black. However, some HP printers will refuse to print at all if there is only one monochrome cartridge left, in which case the problem must be resolved.
Instructions
Step 1
The first obvious solution is to change the ink. Refill an empty cartridge with color ink or buy a new cartridge, for example, use the online ordering service.
Step 2
If buying ink is not a viable option, try bypassing the printing system by forcing it to fallback monochrome and remove the color cartridge from the printer. When prompted that further printing will be in gray, look at the end of the text. If the program prompts you to print in black, click OK.
Step 3
If the program fails to print without a color cartridge, reinstall the drivers. To do this, download updated versions of programs from specialized verified sites and be sure to make sure that the selected drivers correspond to your Windows operating system. Otherwise, downloaded programs will not be recognized and the printing process will not change.
Step 4
Before installing drivers on your printer, uninstall old programs and clear the registry. Then run the installation file and wait for it to download to the device.
Step 5
Try connecting a removable storage device to the printer and printing any material from this device using the black mode.
Step 6
If this does not help, you should reflash the printer. The center's specialists will try the option of replacing the software, when the empty container will not be recognized, or they use one of the methods for changing the cartridge chip. In any case, do not try to reflash the printer yourself, since in the process of changing the software you can damage the printer, leaving no chance of even returning it to working condition.
