Creating and properly setting up a home local network allows you to quickly exchange information between devices. In addition, it is possible to simultaneously access the Internet from several PCs or laptops at once.
Necessary
Patch cord
Instructions
Step 1
Two main methods can be used to create a local network between two mobile computers: a patch cord connection or a Wi-Fi connection. If you prefer a cable connection, purchase a reverse crimp breakout cable.
Step 2
Connect the LAN connectors to the network cards of both mobile computers. Turn on the laptops and wait for the operating systems to load. On the first laptop, open the properties of the network adapter connected to the second mobile computer. Start configuring TCP / IP parameters.
Step 3
Enter the desired permanent IP address, for example 184.126.15.1. Click the Apply button. Close the settings menu. Set the static IP address for the other mobile computer's NIC in the same way. Change the last segment of the address so that they are on the same subnet.
Step 4
If you don't want to use a cable, connect the laptops wirelessly via Wi-Fi. Open the Network and Sharing Center on any of your mobile computers. Select the "Manage Wireless Networks" menu.
Step 5
Find the Add button on the toolbar and click it. Select Create Computer-to-Computer Network. Go to the next setting menu.
Step 6
Set the parameters for your wireless network. Be sure to enter a strong password. Check the box next to "Save this network settings". Click the Next and Finish buttons.
Step 7
Go to the second laptop. Activate the search for wireless networks. Highlight the newly created access point and click the "Connect" button. Wait until the connection with the first laptop is established. Change the parameters of the wireless adapters as described in the third step.
