Sometimes it is required to install several operating systems at the same time on one computer. They are usually installed on one local hard disk partition. Later, it may become necessary to use only one operating system, but it is not among the installed operating systems. You can try to remove all of them in turn, and then install the desired one. But there is an easier option: in one fell swoop to demolish all OS from the local disk.
Necessary
- - Computer;
- - boot disk with Windows XP OS.
Instructions
Step 1
There are only two ways to uninstall all operating systems at the same time. This is to format the partition, which cannot be done directly from the operating system, or simply delete the local partition. In either case, it is the loss of information from the local disk. So before starting the operation, copy the files you need to another partition on your hard disk or to a USB flash drive.
Step 2
For the following steps, you must have a bootable disk with the Windows XP operating system. It is on the example of this OS that the situation will be considered. Before starting the operation, the disc must be in the optical drive of the computer.
Step 3
Turn on your computer. Once enabled, you must immediately press the F5 key (alternatively, on some systems, the F8 or F2 key can be used). After pressing the correct key, the normal loading of the operating system should stop. Instead, the BOOT menu should open. This menu allows you to select the OS startup source. Select your optical drive and press Enter. After the disc in the drive spins up, press any key.
Step 4
The process of loading files into RAM will begin. Wait for the first dialog box to appear. Then press Enter, then - F8. In the next dialog press Esc. A list of local hard disk partitions appears. Now you have two options: either deleting the local partition itself, or formatting it. Select the "Delete Section" option.
Step 5
Select the local operating systems partition. Then press the D and L keys. Then the line "Indiscernible area" will appear in the window. Select it, then press the C and Enter keys. You now have a clean local partition with no operating systems installed. If you wish, you can continue installing Windows XP, or turn off the computer (using the button on the case), and later install another operating system.
