Physical device - the hard disk of a computer appears to users as several local partitions (disks). However, this division of the unified address space of the hard drive is conditional and is performed at the software level. Partitioning is necessary to allocate the system area of the disk and other functional partitions. In this case, you can always delete the local area selected earlier. Today, resizing disks can be done without the slightest loss of information from the disk. Such operations are performed using any version of Partition Magic.

Instructions

Step 1

Download and install Partition Magic on your computer. Run the program from the application shortcut on the desktop or from the Start button menu. The window that opens will display all hard drives connected to your computer, as well as their partition into local partitions.

Step 2

Local disks in the window are designated by letters of Latin letters. Before deleting an area that you no longer need, remember the file system in which this disk was formatted. It is necessary to attach its address space in the future to another local disk.

Step 3

Select the area to be deleted with the mouse and select the main menu items of the program "Partition" - "Delete". The local disk area will turn gray and marked "Unallocated".

Step 4

For further use of the address space of the remote disk and the data it contains, attach the unallocated area to another selected partition. In this case, it is desirable that the file system of this partition coincides with the file system of the remote disk.

Step 5

Select the required area of the disk and open the main menu items of the application "Partition" - "Move / Resize". A window for resizing the local disk using the unallocated area will appear on the screen. Moving the slider with the mouse, grab the entire gray area of the deleted disk into the current partition. Click the "Ok" button.

Step 6

Now the information from the remote disk will be in another local partition. To apply all the operations performed on the disks, select the "General" - "Apply Changes" menu items. Confirm the execution of all operations at the request of the program. Next, the application will remove the local disk.
