Icons in Windows operating systems are graphical displays of folders, applications, files, and shortcuts. Icons in Windows 7 are used on the taskbar, on the desktop, in Windows Explorer, and in the Start menu. The user can change the icons at his own discretion.
Instructions
Step 1
To change the icon of a folder, open the directory of its location. To do this, you can use the standard Windows Explorer or the search system. To use the standard Windows search engine, open the Start menu. In the search bar "Find programs and files" enter a query with the name of the folder you are looking for.
Step 2
In the list of search results, find the line with the name of the desired folder and right-click on it once. The context menu of the main actions on the folder will open.
Step 3
In the menu that appears, select the line "Folder location" by clicking on it with the left mouse button once. A window will open with the directory where the selected folder is located.
Step 4
Select the folder with a single left click. Then right-click on it once. A menu of basic actions over the folder will open.
Step 5
In the menu that opens, select the "Properties" line. The "Properties: Folder" dialog box appears. It displays the properties of the selected folder and basic settings for its various parameters, such as security, sharing, display, available versions, etc.
Step 6
In the folder properties window, activate the "Settings" tab. It contains the basic settings for displaying the folder itself and its contents.
Step 7
On the selected tab in the "Folder icons" block, left-click once on the "Change icon …" button. The Change Folder Icon … dialog box opens, showing the icons (icons) commonly used in the Windows 7 operating system.
Step 8
Select the icon you like by clicking on its icon once with the left mouse button, and press the "OK" button or the "Enter" key on the keyboard. The folder icon will change to the user-selected one without having to restart the computer.
