Sometimes, when processing digital images for one purpose or another, you need to circle the picture by creating a frame around it, or add an outline around a fragment of the composition, visually highlighting it. This can be done in Adobe Photoshop.
Necessary
Adobe Photoshop
Instructions
Step 1
Decide how you want the picture to be outlined. If you want to outline the entire image (in fact, create a frame around it), go to the second step. If you need to circle a picture that is part of the image, follow the steps described in steps 4-8.
Step 2
Increase the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the canvas as needed. Press Ctrl + Alt + C or in the Image section of the main menu select "Canvas Size …". Specify the new values for the Width and Height fields of the dialog that appears. In the Anchor group of buttons, click on the central one. Click OK
Step 3
Circle the picture. Activate the Paint Bucket tool. Set the foreground color to the one that will fill the created frame. Click with the mouse on any point of the free area around the picture added in the second step.
Step 4
Create a work path that describes the path along which you want to trace the picture. Use the Pen or Freeform Pen tools, or convert the marquee to a path (this may be more convenient). Select the outlined picture using the appropriate tools. Click on the selected area with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select the "Make Work Path …" item. A dialogue will appear. In the Tolerance field, enter a value for the tolerance. Click OK.
Step 5
Adjust the working path if necessary. Use the Path Selection, Add Anchor Point, Delete Anchor Point, Convert Anchor Point tools.
Step 6
Decide which tool will be outlined on the picture, activate it. Usually Pen or Brush is used for such purposes. Adjust the tool parameters using the controls on the top panel. Choose a foreground color (this will be used to create the outline).
Step 7
Circle the picture. Switch to the Paths panel. Right-click on the list item corresponding to the path created in the fourth step. In the context menu, select the "Stroke Path …" item. In the drop-down list of the displayed dialog, select the tool selected in the sixth step. Click OK.
Step 8
Remove the work path if you no longer need it. Right-click on the element in the Paths panel. Select Delete Path from the menu.
