When installing a new image on the desktop, you may encounter a problem with the resolution of this image not matching the screen size. You can fix this using Adobe Photoshop.
Necessary
Adobe Photoshop
Instructions
Step 1
Launch Adobe Photoshop and open the required photo in it: click the File> Open menu item or use the faster option - Ctrl + O hotkeys. In the window that opens, select the required file and click "Open". The image will appear in the workspace of the program.
Step 2
Open the Image size window. This can be done in two ways. First, click on Image> Image size. Second - press the hotkeys Alt + Ctrl + I. A new window will appear, in which you should be interested in the uppermost area - "Dimension" (Pixel dimensions), or rather, the "Width" and "Height" fields. These are the very parameters that directly affect the image resolution. To the right of these fields are drop-down menus in which you can change the units of measurement - pixels or percent.
Step 3
Pay attention to the item "Constrain proportions", it is located at the bottom of the window. If there is a check mark next to it, then next to the "Width" and "Height" fields there will be an emblem in the form of a chain and a square bracket. This means that changing any of these parameters will change the other.
Step 4
Do not forget to use the Resample Image setting, with which you can preserve the sharpness of the image. Check the box next to it and click on the drop-down menu below. When increasing the resolution select the item "Bicubic smoother (best for enlargement)", when decreasing - "Bicubic sharper (best for reduction)". After understanding the settings, click OK.
Step 5
To save the result, click the menu item "File"> "Save as" or the key combination Ctrl + Shift + S. In the new window, select the path for the modified file, specify the name and format, and finally click "Save".
