The main tool that allows you to expand the functionality of the Joomla system is components / modules. There are now many modules designed to perform various tasks. Their removal and installation is performed in the Joomla admin panel.
Necessary
a computer connected to the Internet
Instructions
Step 1
Log in to the Joomla admin panel to install the new module. Go to the menu, then select "Installation" - "Modules". The installation dialog box will open and select Install New Item. Select the archive with the module from your computer, then click "Download and install".
Step 2
To install the module manually, unpack the distribution kit with it to any folder on your computer, connect to the server via Ftp. Find the media folder in the Joomla root directory, create a directory with any name in it. Copy the unpacked files there.
Step 3
Log in to the admin panel. In the new module installation dialog box, specify the full path to the distribution folder on the server. Then click on the "Install" button. If during the installation of a module a message is displayed that another component is already occupying the directory, then the following options are possible: the module is already installed or it was uninstalled incorrectly. In the second case, delete all objects that remain from previous installations.
Step 4
Use another method to install the module. Unzip the file with the module, copy the resulting folder to the Modules directory, then go to the site, in the "Modules Manager" section, click on the "Create" button. From the list that opens, select the desired item to install in Joomla. The content of the module will be displayed next to the content of the component, for example, the menu module can be displayed on all pages of the site, regardless of their content, for example, to the left of the content area.
Step 5
In the selected site layout template, select the location in which to configure the display of the installed module content. Determine the location of a specific module, for this go to the administrative panel, and in the "Extensions" menu, select "Template manager". Here click on the name of the template, click on the "View" button at the top.
