Data in text documents and databases need to be corrected periodically. Over time, the order of the columns in tables, as well as their values, can change. To rename a table within a database, it is enough to use the standard tools of the parent utility.
Necessary
Microsoft Access software
Instructions
Step 1
MS Access database tables have the adp extension. This is their standard format. When renaming a table, not only the usual name change occurs, but also its further connection with all database objects. The only remark when performing this operation: if there are links inside the file whose name contains the name of the previous table, these links become inaccessible.
Step 2
Run the above program using the shortcut on the desktop. You can also do this through the "All Programs" section of the "Start" menu. In the list that opens, find the Microsoft Office directory and select the Microsoft Access item or click the item of the same name in the general list of All Programs catalogs (depending on the version of the software package).
Step 3
Open the database inside which you want to rename the table. To do this, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O or through the top menu "File". In versions 2007 and older, go to the "Objects" list and select the "Database schemas" item. Then select the required database and click on the "Constructor" button (located on the toolbar).
Step 4
You will see a window with the current database. Go to the tables section and select the one you want to rename. To perform the renaming operation, call the properties of the table.
Step 5
Right-click on it and select the "Properties" line. Click on the "Tables" tab. Enter a new name in the Table Name field. Pay attention to the drop-down list - the new table name must not match any of these values. As soon as you move the cursor from the "Table Name" field to another field, the new name is automatically saved. To cancel the changes, just press the Esc key.
