Sometimes the owners of a personal computer or laptop need to determine the video card installed on Windows 7. Knowing the exact model of the graphic adapter is important if it becomes necessary to install programs and games that are demanding on the system. It may also be needed when updating the system or installing an additional video module.

Step 1
There are several ways to identify the graphics card on Windows 7, but one of the easiest is to search for the graphics adapter model through Device Manager. In order to do this, move the cursor and click on the "Start" button located in the lower left part of the screen. As a rule, if no add-ons are installed, the button looks like a blue circle with the Windows corporate logo inside. The Start menu is divided into two sections that are highlighted in different colors. In the right part, highlighted in gray, you need to find and right-click on the "Computer" icon.
Step 2
After the performed actions, a pop-up menu with several items on a gray background will open. In the window that appears, select the "Properties" item and click on it with the left mouse button. Next, from a small list, you need to find and select the "Device Manager" item. It is located in the menu on the left side of the window that opens. Opposite this point, there is usually an icon with a yellow-blue shield.
Step 3
You will be presented with a long list with all the devices connected to the system. In this list of names, find the item "Video adapter". In most systems, this item is located third or fifth in a row, if you count from top to bottom. Click on it, and the model and series of the video card installed on the computer will be displayed.
Step 4
It may happen that in the window that opens, not one, but two video cards will be visible at once. There can be two reasons for this. Or, in fact, the system has two graphics adapters, one of which is internal and the other is external. Or a special program is installed on the computer - an emulator of the second video card.
Step 5
An alternative way to determine the video card on Windows 7. In the context menu that will pop up after clicking on the desktop with the right mouse button, select the item "Screen resolution". A window will appear in which you need to click on the "Advanced options" item. After that, another small window will open in which you will see the name of your graphics adapter.
