The Windows Registry is a database used by the system to store configuration files. Over time, this section is filled with unnecessary data that can affect the stability of Windows. To avoid this, you need to periodically clean the registry.

Step 1
Use a specialized utility to clean up the registry. For example, the CCleaner program, which allows you to remove unnecessary keys and fix errors in this section of Windows. To download CCleaner, go to the developer's official site in the web browser window.
Step 2
On the page that appears, go to the Download section of the top navigation bar. You will be prompted to choose the free or paid version of the program. Press the Download button and select a location to save the installer file. Once the download is complete, run the resulting file and follow the instructions on the screen.

Run the installed program using the shortcut on the desktop. In the left toolbar, click on the "Registry" button. In the menu that appears, you can select the registry parameters that you would like to check for faults and unnecessary entries. Select the items you want or check all the lines.
Step 4
Click on the "Search for problems" button and wait for the check to complete. Errors found by the program's scanner will be displayed on the right side of the window. To fix them, click "Fix". In the dialog box that appears, click "Yes" and select a location to save the backup of the registry. Then click "Fix Selected". Close the window after completing the procedure. The registry cleaning is complete.
Step 5
You can also try clearing unneeded data manually. For this, the system has a built-in utility for editing regedit. To access it, go to the local drive folder C: / Windows / System32 / regedit.exe. You can also launch the utility by typing regedit in the Start menu search bar.
