Novice Windows users are often interested in how to make sure that the computer does not go into sleep mode and thereby not distract from watching movies and other activities. Disabling this function is done through special sections of the operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
You can prevent your computer from going into sleep mode by using the Power Options section located in the Control Panel. Depending on what kind of system you have, and what kind of "Control Panel" has, immediately click on the desired icon at the bottom of the folder, or first go to the "System and Security" section.
Step 2
Pay attention to the list of options on the left side of the window and select the item "Setting the transition to sleep mode" (it may have different names, depending on the type of computer and the version of the operating system). In the window that opens, activate the "Never" item so that the computer does not go into sleep mode.
Step 3
Set additional power options. If you have a laptop, on the main page of the section, you can select Balanced Power Mode, Economy Mode or High Performance Mode. The latter of these automatically turns off sleep mode and configures the laptop to work only from the mains. On the left side of the screen, select Display Off Setting. Here you can turn off the dimming function when the system is idle. There is also an item "Action when closing the lid." In this section, you can make sure that the laptop does not go into sleep mode when the user closes its lid (by default, the device always goes to sleep).
Step 4
Adjust the settings for the screen saver that appears on the screen if the computer has not been used for a while. Without leaving the power settings section, click the "Personalize" button in the lower left corner. Then select the "Screensaver" item. Set a suitable period of time after which the screensaver will appear, or disable it altogether.
