Step 1
To run a disk image of this format, use special software, for example, the very popular Daemon Tools. After installing this program on your computer, you can find it in the tray. It appears there at startup, so that every time you are about to load the disk image, you do not have to run the necessary program again and again for this. To open the mdf file, move the mouse over the Daemon Tools icon, right-click and select CD / DVD-ROM, then mount the image, then find the file you need and click open. The disk image will boot into the virtual drive, which you can find in the my computer folder. One of the additional benefits of this program is that it has a Lite version, which is completely free.
Step 2
Alcohol 120% has been a worthy alternative to this program for many years. You can use this program even if your computer is not powerful enough - this program does not load into the tray and consumes less memory than Daemon Tools. In order to open the mdf file, install this program on your computer and run it. Unfortunately, this is a shareware program and after the end of the trial period you will be prompted to activate it. Without this, Alcohol 120% will not work. After launching the program, pay attention to the bottom panel, in which you will notice a list of virtual drives. Select one of them, move the mouse over it, right-click on it and click on Mount Image. After that, find the mds format file, because to download mdf, you will have to mount it, open it, after which the disk image will be loaded.
Step 3
Another program that has the same functionality is UltraIso. It is primarily intended for editing disk images, but it can also be used to launch them. To do this, after installation, go into the program, select the tools item in the top panel, click on it, and in the menu that opens, click mount to virtual drive. Select the file you need, click open, after which the disk image will be loaded into the virtual drive.
