The automatic compression of a picture added to a file can significantly reduce the file size. The very concept of "compression", adopted in Microsoft Office, includes several components: reduction of the image resolution, actual compression (by default 220 pixels per inch) and removal of cropped fragments.

Instructions
Step 1
Start the Microsoft Excel office application and go to the "Help" item in the "File" menu of the top toolbar of the program window to perform the operation of changing the settings for automatic compression of the picture added to the files of the Microsoft Office package.
Step 2
Specify the "Options" command and expand the "Advanced" link.
Step 3
Specify the file to change the compression settings in the list next to the Image Size and Quality group and check the Do not compress image in file box to disable the compression function.
Step 4
Double-click on the image whose compression parameters are to be edited and select the "Settings" node.
Step 5
Click the Format tab and select Compress Picture in the Picture Tools group.
Step 6
Check the Apply to this picture only box to change the compression settings for the selected image only, or uncheck the Apply to this picture only box to change the compression settings for all images in the file.
Step 7
Specify the desired image resolution in the "Final result" group and return to the "File" menu of the upper toolbar of the program window to perform the operation of defining the default resolution for all images in the selected file.
Step 8
Go to the "Help" item and expand the "Options" link.
Step 9
Specify the "Advanced" group and mark the file to set the required resolution by default in the list next to the "Image size and quality" node.
Step 10
Specify the desired resolution in the Default Output Quality directory.
