Almost every day there is a need to save some data to an external medium for copying to another computer. Often this data needs to be protected from unauthorized persons, so there is a need to set a password for the contents of external media.

Instructions
Step 1
It is easy to do this by means of the operating system, however, protection will work only within the limits of this particular operating system. Therefore, it will be more effective to use a special encryption program - Cryptainer. Download this program on the Internet. You can find it on the official website. www.cypherix.com
Step 2
Next, install the program on your computer. Try to install such utilities on the system drive of your computer so that later there is no confusion with all the files. All program logs are usually saved on the local drive "C".
Step 3
Run the utility. The program will automatically display a window in which you will need to set the necessary parameters for encryption. You will need to select the location of the special encrypted container, its size and password to access it. You can click Cancel and set the options later. Make the password complex. Come up with some crazy combination of letters and numbers, not related to you and your friends or loved ones. Your best bet is to use online password generators.
Step 4
Read the helpful notes on Cryptainer that the program displays on the screen. They describe the logic of the program and give tips on setting up. Select the data you want to encrypt and specify its location by clicking the Load button. The generated container can then be copied to an external hard drive, or you can encrypt the entire external media by specifying its letter in the path.
Step 5
Any data can be encrypted using the Cryptainer program: sound and video, text files and photos. To open an encrypted container (if there is no program), you need the DecypherIT utility and a password for the container. You can download there, on www.cypherix.com.
