A color profile is a profile that contains information needed to adjust the gamut, tint, color saturation of various devices and publications. For a number of reasons, the reproduction of color by different devices is different, that is, scanners, monitors, printers display colors in different ways. The color management system helps to solve this problem. To create a color profile, the user needs to take several steps.

Instructions

Step 1

The color profile is installed in the Color folder. To open it, from the "Desktop" click on the icon of the component "My Computer" and go to the disk with the Windows system files. By default, the operating system is installed on drive C, but the user can choose another drive for installation.

Step 2

In the system root directory, select the System32 folder, in it sequentially open the Spool, Drivers, Color folders. Select the color profile you want to install. Click on its icon with the right mouse button, in the drop-down menu select the command "Install profile". The file icon will then change from gray to white. The new color characteristics will be transferred to the color management system.

Step 3

To set a color profile for your monitor, log in with an Administrator account. Open the Display component. To do this, right-click in any free space on the Desktop, and select Properties from the drop-down menu. Or through the "Start" menu, call the "Control Panel", in the "Appearance and Themes" category, click on the "Display" icon with the left mouse button.

Step 4

In the "Properties: Display" window that opens, go to the "Settings" tab and click on the "Advanced" button - an additional window "Properties: Monitor connection module and [name of your video card]" will open. Go to the Color Management tab and click the Add button.

Step 5

In the "Add profile mapping" window, select the desired color profile from the proposed list and click on the "Add" button. Click on the "Apply" button in the properties window and close the window by clicking on the OK button or on the X icon in the upper right corner of the window.

Step 6

The color profile for the printer is installed in a similar way, only instead of the "Display" component, you need to call the properties window of your printer. To do this, open the "Printers and Faxes" folder, right-click on the printer icon, and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the dialog box that opens, go to the Color Management tab and repeat the steps in the previous step.
