Overheating of the power supply unit of a personal computer usually leads to damage to this device. Unfortunately, quite often the strong heating of the power supply unit causes sudden power surges. The consequence of such a problem is damage to the motherboard, video card and other important elements.

Step 1
If you notice a problem with the power supply, shut down the computer immediately. Turn off the surge protector or UPS. Remove the power cable from the case. Disconnect any wires that might interfere with disassembling the computer.
Step 2
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove several screws that secure the left side of the system unit. Remove the indicated cover. Now remove the screws that secure the power supply. Their caps should be located on the back of the case.
Step 3
Pull out the power supply carefully. If cables are interfering with this process, remove them from the connectors. Unscrew a few more screws and remove the PSU cover. Remove the fan, having previously disconnected the cable going to the block board.
Step 4
Remove dust from the fan. Lubricate the axis of rotation of the blades. Sometimes this process will return a device to a working state. Purchase a similar cooler if you were unable to "reanimate" your old equipment.
Step 5
Pay particular attention to the power of the new fan. Make sure that the mounting holes are in the right places first. Do not forget to check the compatibility of the cooler voltage cable connector with the power supply socket.
Step 6
Install the new fan into the power supply. Remember that this cooler should be blowing out air, not supplying it from the external environment. Close the power supply cover. Connect the device to AC power.
Step 7
Turn on the computer and make sure the fan is stable. Turn off your PC. Disconnect the network cable. Reattach the power supply cover and install the hardware.
Step 8
Check if the unit is securely attached to the inside of the computer case. Turn on your computer. After about an hour, check the temperature of the power supply and the fan operation.
