Step 1
Currently, there are certain standards for power supplies. This is necessary so that you can quickly select an element suitable for your computer. If you decide to replace the power supply in your PC, then find out the form factor of the installed motherboard.

Determine the appropriate power supply standard (AT or ATX). Be sure to find out the capacity of the old block. It is better to purchase a new power supply unit with a reserve of power, so that later you will not have problems connecting new equipment. Make sure the new unit has connectors for hard drives and DVD drives (IDE or SATA). If your video card needs to connect additional power (except for the main one supplied through the motherboard), then make sure you have the necessary contacts.

Unplug your computer from AC power. Open the block case and unscrew a few screws from the outside. Remove the old unit from the case, having previously disconnected its cables from all devices.
Step 4
Install the new PSU and secure it securely with the screws. Connect the 24-pin header to the motherboard. Sometimes a combination of 20 + 4 contacts is used. This allows for backward compatibility with older motherboards. Connect other devices to the power supply.
Step 5
Turn on the computer and check the functionality of the new item. Remember that your computer's power supply needs to be serviced in a timely manner. Clean the fans included with this device. This will prevent overheating not only of the power supply itself, but also of other important elements of the personal computer.
