For normal video and sound playback, the appropriate codecs must be installed. Also, there are situations when only the video stream is played on some players, but there is no sound. Accordingly, you need to install additional audio codecs. Typically, audio codecs are included in the general codec package and are installed along with the rest. But there are also separate audio codecs that expand the possibilities for working with audio files.

Necessary

  • - Computer with Windows OS;
  • - a set of codecs K-Lite Codec Pack;
  • - package of audio codecs AME ACM MP3 Codec.

Instructions

Step 1

The most popular codec pack for correct video and sound playback is the K-Lite Codec Pack. Download it from the internet. The K-Lite Codec Pack is completely free. Please note that you need to download codecs specifically for your operating system. Otherwise, they may not install or work. If the downloaded codecs are archived, you do not need to install them directly from the archive. Extract them to any folder first.

Step 2

Double-click on the extracted file with the left mouse button. The "Application Setup Wizard" will appear. Leave all the parameters at their default values, nothing needs to be changed. Just click "Next" in each window. When the codecs are installed, restart your computer. Then launch the video file. If the picture and sound are playing normally, then everything went well and nothing else needs to be installed. But situations may arise that the video is played normally, but there is no sound. Then you will need to install an additional package of audio codecs.

Step 3

Download the AME ACM MP3 Codec audio codec package from the Internet. Codecs are suitable for any Windows operating system. This set of codecs is downloaded in the archive, unzip the downloaded file. Create a Lame folder on the C drive. Copy all the extracted files from the archive there. Please note that the files must be copied to this folder. If they are in a different location, the system simply will not be able to install these components.

Step 4

Now click "Start". Select the All Programs component, then Accessories. In standard programs, click on "Command Line". At the command prompt, type "rundll32 setupapi.dll, InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 0 C: lameLameACM.inf2" and press Enter. After that, the audio codecs will be installed. Restart your computer and launch the video file. Both audio and video should now play fine.
