You can use a computer without knowing what characteristics it has. But sometimes out of simple curiosity, and sometimes out of necessity, you still get to know them. At the same time, some parameters are easy to find out, some are not very, and some "especially difficult" questions can be solved only with the help of special test programs. The procedure for finding out the details of the installed RAM is quite indicative in this regard.

Step 1
So, why is the "recognition" of the RAM an indicative procedure? Because it is easy to find out the amount of installed memory, its type is already more difficult, and some characteristics cannot be found without a special program. Of course, you can just look at the installed memory modules. To do this, open the case cover, remove the memory module from the slot and examine it carefully. A special sticker should indicate the characteristics of the strap. The problem is that there may not be any characteristics on the sticker, in some cases it may not be at all.

In this case, use programmatic methods. To find out the amount of available memory, just right-click on the "My Computer" icon, select properties in the drop-down menu and look at the window that appears. The "Installed memory" column will display the amount of RAM available to the system.
Step 3
A little more detailed information can be obtained in the BIOS. To do this, go into it (when booting the computer, press Del, F2 or another key depending on the motherboard model) and open the "System information" or "Main" menu. It has a section "Memory", which indicates the physical amount of memory.
Step 4
Install the AIDA64 Extreme Edition software. Its trial can be downloaded from the developer's website. Installation is not difficult, just select the installation directory and accept the license agreement. After installation, run the program and in the left window with the parameters select the item "Motherboard", and in it the line SPD. Detailed information about installed modules will appear in the window on the right.
