Decide which subtitles you want to attach to your video. There are two types of subtitles: external and internal. The difference between them is as follows. External subtitles are a separate file that runs in parallel with the video. It describes at what point in time this or that inscription should be displayed on the screen. You can turn them off if you want. Internal subtitles are embedded in the video and cannot be turned off.

Download subtitles from the internet. Please note that the file format of the movie to which you are going to download subtitles does not matter. After the subtitle file has been downloaded, move it to the movie folder. Next, to link the subtitles to the movie, rename the file to match the name of the video. Then, every time you start the movie, the subtitles will start automatically.

Note if the subtitles are in sync with the movie. If not, you will need an editor to fix this. Download the Jubler program from the Internet. With its help, you can adjust the time when each phrase appears on the screen. The above program has a fairly intuitive interface and is easy to use. Note that fitting each phrase can take a long time.

Download VirtualDub and VSFilter to embed subtitles in your video. After you download these programs, you need to embed one into the other. To do this, open the VSFilter folder and find the vsfilter.dll file in it. Copy it to the Windows / System32 folder. After that go to the "Start" button menu, select "Run".
Step 5
Enter regsvr32 vsfilter.dll on the command line. After that, the VSFilter program will be automatically integrated into the VirtualDub program. After that open the VSFilter folder, find the Release directory. Rename the vsfilter.dll file to textsub.vdf. Now you can use it as a subtitle plugin. Launch Virtual Dub, run the Text Sub filter in it, then select the video file and subtitles you want to embed in it.
