Ubuntu is a linux distribution that is developed and maintained by Canonical. Today it is perhaps the most popular distribution among users and especially newbies. Users choose Ubuntu, which has lower system requirements than Windows and higher usability, security, and performance.
Ubuntu Installation Requirements
If you are going to install Ubuntu from a CD, then you need a DVD-R burner, a blank DVD-R CD to burn, and the Internet to download the disc image from the official website. The Long Term Support (LTS) image is larger than 1.5 GB. The PC on which you plan to install Ubuntu must have at least a DVD-ROM drive and be able to boot from that drive.
If your computer is equipped with USB ports and the BIOS settings have the ability to boot from USB-Flash, then you can prepare a bootable USB flash drive on a Windows computer. The drive must be at least 2 GB in size and support at least USB 2.0.
Ubuntu CPU Requirements
- Minimum processor requirements single-core 1 Ghz;
- Recommended requirements for normal operation are a dual-core (or more) processor with a frequency of 2Ghz or higher.
Ubuntu RAM requirements
- For the minimum start of the operating system, 512 Mb is enough.
- To run in graphical mode, the minimum amount of RAM is at least 1 Gb.
- The recommended volume is not less than 2 Gb.
- For normal operation of modern applications, a minimum volume of 4 Gb and a 64-bit version of Ubuntu is recommended.
Ubuntu hard disk (hdd) requirements
Ubuntu works with all modern hard drives, as well as ssd drives.
- To install a minimal Ubuntu image on a hard drive, you need at least 4 Gb of hard drive space.
- For installation with a graphical interface and a set of standard applications 10 Gb.
- Canonical's recommended requirements are at least 25 Gb.
- For maximum performance, use an ssd disk.
