Russian keyboard layout is not always enabled by default. This usually applies to foreign versions of the operating system. Depending on the reason for its absence, there are several ways to add it.

Necessary

  • - Nero;
  • - Alcohol 120%;
  • - Microsoft Windows XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack;
  • - operating system distribution kit.

Instructions

Step 1

Use the Alt + Shift keyboard shortcut to switch keyboard layouts. It is also possible to do this from the Windows taskbar by clicking on the button for switching input languages. This method is possible only if the version installed on your computer has support for the Russian language and the layout has been added to the control panel.

Step 2

If there is no Russian layout, open your computer's control panel and select the "Regional and Language Options" menu item and in the window that appears, go to the "Advanced" tab. Find the layout settings button in the upper right corner of the window and click on it. Review the list of available keyboard layouts. Use the "Add" button on the right to include the Russian layout in this list.

Step 3

If your copy of Windows installed on your computer does not support the settings of some languages, including the Russian layout, use the software reinstallation. Download the Russian-language or, best of all, the English-language version of the operating system. Burn the distribution image to disk using the Alcohol 120% or Nero program. Please note that before creating a project, you need to specify exactly the entry for the multiboot disk.

Step 4

Shut down the computer, reinstall the operating system without formatting by selecting this item at the initial stage of installation. During installation, configure the language parameters you need in the future, specify, if necessary, the default Russian layout and complete the installation process.

Step 5

Also use the Microsoft Windows XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack installation available at https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ru-ru/details.aspx?FamilyID=e98d7116-0384-4ebf-aa92-89df079dd702 from the official Microsoft server. After installing it, your operating system will support the Russian language, however, this does not always apply to the layout, in some cases it does not work.
