Quite often, users are faced with a situation when it is necessary to connect two network cables or increase the length of one of them. In such cases, several options can be used.
Necessary
- - insulating tape;
- - knife.
Instructions
Step 1
If you have two network cables with LAN connectors plugged in, it is best to purchase a dedicated adapter. It is a box with two Ethernet connectors. Connect both network cables to it to connect them together.
Step 2
In a situation where you do not have the opportunity to connect the wires through the connector, use the tools at hand to build one of them. Prepare one power cord first. Use a scalpel or sharp knife to cut off the LAN connector.
Step 3
Remove the outer insulation from the twisted pair. Eight wires of different colors will be located inside. Cut these cables. Make sure all internal wires are of different lengths. Cut off the second cable 2 cm more than the first. Calculate the length of the third wire in the same way. This method allows you to reduce the load on certain areas, reducing the likelihood of increased ping.
Step 4
Remove the insulating winding from the inner wires. You will need approximately 1 cm of insulated cable to successfully twist. Prepare a second power cord. The lengths of the internal wires must be inversely proportional to the lengths of the first mains cable. This is necessary for their successful connection.
Step 5
Coil the inner cables of the same color together in pairs. Wrap each pair with insulating tape. Make sure to insulate all exposed wires. Now, using the same insulating tape, connect all the internal wires together. This method will prevent accidental breakage of the twists.
Step 6
Connect the network cable to the desired devices and check if it works. Remember to use twisted pairs crimped using the same method to make this connection.
